The Windows Server blog confirms what we’ve been discussing for the last week or so. Yes, SP2 for Windows Server 2008 is being beta tested by a number of Technology Adoption Program customers, starting next week.

The main items: Hyper-V RTM is included, and a power profile enhancement.

The actual release date is likely to be months away (but no surprises there).

Microsoft is preparing a SP2 for Vista. Nothing really new there. And they aim to deliver it before Windows 7 is released. Um, no real surprises there either. In fact, we would have been surprised if Windows 7 came out before SP2.

This will also extend to an SP2 for Windows Server 2008 (keep in mind that there was no SP1 for Windows Server 2008 – that will be skipped so as to avoid confusion – Ars Technica explains why).
