Yes, it’s a terrible post title, but we wanted to note how impressed we are with what the Virtual Earth team have been up to lately. Chris notes that they are now partnering with DigitalGlobe to provide a stack more high resolution imagery and can fill in a number of previously bare locations (including Poland, Hungary, Taiwan, etc).

This is good news of course, but it’s their post from a week ago that really caught our attention. In that post Chris explained the interaction between WorldWide Telescope and Virtual Earth. It turns out that they’ve taken the stars data from WorldWide Telescope and injected this into Virtual Earth when using the Virtual Earth 3D control (released in September).

Don’t worry too much if you’re not seeing the new stuff (depending if you are outside the US or not), we hear it is gradually get rolled out world wide.

And if you have not yet tried WorldWide Telescope, then we strongly recommend it. Make sure you view the site in compatibility mode if browsing with IE8 Beta 2. Download it here.

We love Worldwide Telescope
